1. Basic Typing and Characters

This keyboard uses a QWERTY-based layout, adapted to include specific Catalan characters and accents.

• Normal Characters: Simply click the corresponding letter or symbol button to insert its default form.

• Uppercase Characters (Shift): To type uppercase letters or alternative symbols shown on the top part of a key, press the Shift key (left or right) and then click the desired key. The Shift key will automatically deactivate after one character, unless Caps Lock is active.

• Continuous Capitalization (Caps Lock): Press the Caps Lock key to toggle continuous capitalization. When active, all letter keys will produce their uppercase forms. Press it again to turn it off.

• Special Catalan Characters (AltGr): The AltGr key (located on the right side of the spacebar) is crucial for accessing many Catalan-specific characters and symbols:

  • Accented Vowels:

    • à (grave a), è (grave e), ò (grave o): Press AltGr and then a, e, or o respectively.

    • á (acute a), é (acute e), ó (acute o): Press AltGr + Shift and then a, e, or o respectively.

    • í (acute i), ú (acute u): Press AltGr and then i or u respectively.

    • ï (diaeresis i), ü (diaeresis u): Press AltGr + Shift and then i or u respectively.

  • ç (C-cedilla): Press AltGr and then c.

  • ñ (N-tilde): Mapped directly to the ñ key (often found next to L on Spanish/Catalan keyboards).

  • · (Punt volat / Middle Dot): Press AltGr and then .. This is used in l·l (e.g., paral·lel).

  • Euro Sign €: Press AltGr and then 2.

  • Other Symbols: Check keys for other symbols accessible with AltGr.

• AltGr Behavior: The AltGr key is a toggle. Press it once to activate its layer, and click a character key. AltGr will deactivate after one character is typed.

2. Symbols and Numbers

• Numbers: Numbers (1-0) are located on the top row and produce standard Western numeric digits.

• Symbols: Common symbols (e.g., !, ", #, $, etc.) are available by simple clicks or by holding the Shift key. Some additional symbols might be available via AltGr.

3. Special Action Buttons

The top rows of the keyboard include tools for working with your text:

• Undo: Reverses your last typing action.

• Redo: Reapplies an action that was undone.

• Copy: Copies the selected text to your clipboard. If no text is selected, it copies all text in the input area.

• Delete: Deletes the character immediately before the cursor or removes the currently selected text.

• Clear All: Erases all text from the input field.

4. Cursor Movement and Navigation

Dedicated arrow and navigation buttons allow for precise control over your text input:

• ← (Left Arrow): Moves the cursor one character to the left.

• → (Right Arrow): Moves the cursor one character to the right.

• Home: Moves the cursor to the beginning of the current line.

• End: Moves the cursor to the end of the current line.

5. Emoji Panel (😀)

• Click the 😀 (Emoji) button to open a panel filled with various emojis and symbols.

• Select the emoji or symbol you wish to insert into your text.

• To close the panel and return to the main keyboard, click the Keyboard button at the top of the panel or click anywhere outside the panel.

6. Voice Typing (🎤)

• Click the 🎤 (Microphone) button to toggle voice typing on or off.

• When active, you will see a "Listening... Please speak now." message above the keyboard. Speak clearly in Catalan for your voice to be converted into text.

• Important: Your browser must support the Web Speech API and have microphone access enabled for this feature to work. If not, a message will indicate the issue.

• Voice typing will automatically stop if you press any key on the virtual or physical keyboard or click outside the input field.

7. Physical Keyboard Synchronization

This virtual keyboard will visually synchronize with your physical keyboard for Shift, Caps Lock, and AltGr states (specifically the right Alt key). Key presses on your physical keyboard will also be reflected visually on the virtual keyboard. This allows for a seamless typing experience.
