This keyboard uses a phonetic QWERTY layout (like Avro), which means the Bengali keys are mapped to the sounds of their English counterparts. This is a complete বাংলা কীবোর্ড (Bengali keyboard) solution for all your needs. It features voice typing (Speech-to-Text) and emoji symbols. How to Use the Keyboard
Typing and Switching Languages
The keyboard defaults to the Bengali layout. The layout is phonetic, meaning it follows the sound of the English keys.
Phonetic Mapping Examples:

Vowel Formation: Vowels and vowel signs (matras) are mapped phonetically.
Type

A(Shift+a) forআ.To add a vowel sign to a consonant, type the consonant first, then the vowel sign key. For example, to type কা, you press
k(for ক) and thena(for theাsign).
Conjuncts (যুক্তাক্ষর): To join two consonants, type the first consonant, then the hasanta (
্) key, and then the second consonant. The hasanta is on thefkey. For example, to type ক্ত, you presskft.
To switch between Bengali and English, click the Eng/বাংলা button. The keyboard layout and the placeholder text in the text area will update automatically.
Using Shift and Caps Lock
Shift: Clicking the Shift key gives you access to a secondary layer of characters. In English mode, this produces uppercase letters. In Bengali mode, this reveals aspirated consonants, full vowels, and important vowel signs (matras). The Shift key deactivates after one use.
Caps Lock: In English mode, click Caps Lock to type continuously in uppercase. The key will light up when active. Click it again to deactivate.
A Note on Phonetic Layouts (like Avro)
Avro Keyboard (অভ্র কিবোর্ড) is a very popular software that helped make phonetic Bengali typing widespread. It won the Ekushey Padak in 2025, one of Bangladesh’s highest civilian honors.
Our keyboard is based on the same phonetic principle that Avro uses, making it intuitive for anyone familiar with typing Bengali based on English sounds.
While the core logic is similar, our layout is not an identical copy. For instance, we primarily use the Shift key for character variations (like k for ক and Shift+k for খ), which may differ slightly from Avro's multi-key combinations. For instance, Avro Keyboard often requires users to type ‘k’ followed by ‘h’ to produce খ. If you're familiar with typing in Avro, you'll find this keyboard very easy to use.

The Shift Key Layer
When the Bengali keyboard is active, pressing the Shift key provides access to essential characters for proper writing.
Bengali Diacritics (Matras): Includes all the primary vowel signs (matras) such as া (A-kar), ি (I-kar), ু (U-kar), ৃ (Ri-kar), and more.
Other Diacritics: Access important marks like the Bisarga (ঃ) and the Anusvara (ং).
Full Vowels & Aspirated Consonants: The Shift layer also provides access to full vowel characters like আ, ঈ, ঊ, and the aspirated (stressed) versions of consonants like খ, ঘ, থ, etc.
Currency Symbol: The Indian Rupee (₹) symbol is available on the Shift layer.
The AltGr Key Layer
The AltGr key unlocks a third layer of symbols on both the Bengali and English keyboards. This layer is identical in both modes for consistency.

Voice Typing and Other Tools
Voice Typing (Speech-to-Text)
Click the Microphone (🎤) button to start voice typing.
Your browser may ask for permission to use your microphone. Please click "Allow".
The status message will show "Listening..." Start speaking clearly in your selected language.
Your spoken words will be converted into text.
Language Recognition: The speech-to-text engine is configured for specific dialects to improve accuracy.
Bengali Mode: Uses language code
bn-BDfor Bengali (Bangladesh).English Mode: Uses language code
en-USfor US English.
Auto Punctuation
The Auto Punct. button helps you end sentences quickly. When activated, it will automatically add the appropriate punctuation mark (a period

Other Tools
Text Management: Use Undo, Redo, Copy, and Clear All to manage your text efficiently.
Navigation: Use the arrow keys, Home, and End for precise cursor control.

Translate Feature
The virtual keyboard features a handy Translate button that allows you to swiftly translate your typed text.
How it Works:
Bilingual Text Translation: When the Bengali keyboard is active, clicking the “Translate” button will convert text from Bengali to English. Conversely, when the English keyboard is active, clicking “Translate” will convert text from English to Bengali, using Google Translate.
Steps:
Type or voice-type any text into the main text area.
Click or tap the Translate button.
If the text area is empty, a temporary message "Type text first!" will appear, and no new tab will open.
If there is text in the text area, a new browser tab will automatically open, redirecting you to Google Translate.
Your typed text will be pre-filled into Google Translate's input field.
Google Translate will automatically detect the source language of your text.
The translation will be displayed in the automatically selected target language (English if Bengali keyboard was active, Bengali if English keyboard was active).
Important Note for Mobile Users:
On mobile devices with the Google Translate app, clicking "Translate" might open the installed app instead of the web page, and it may not pre-fill your text. To work around this, click "Copy" first to save your text, then "Translate," and paste it in the app.
Physical Keyboard Synchronization
This virtual keyboard will synchronize with your physical keyboard. If you use the Shift or Caps Lock keys on your physical keyboard, the characters on the virtual keyboard will change accordingly. When you press an English letter on your physical keyboard, it will be converted into a Bengali character when using the Bengali virtual keyboard.
Responsive Design
This virtual keyboard is designed to adapt to various screen sizes:
Desktop: You will see the full keyboard layout with all keys and labels. If your computer or laptop's physical keyboard isn't working, you can search for "Bengali Keyboard Online Dozro" using a search engine and use it to type with your mouse or touch.
