Google Chrome Preload Pages Settings: Should You Turn ON Preload Pages?
You can access the settings of Preload Pages here: Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
In Chrome Android mobile, follow this navigation. Settings → Privacy and security → Preload pages.
So, What is ‘Preload Pages’ in Google Chrome browser?
Preload Pages feature in Chrome browser enhances the speed and performance of your Chrome browser because Chrome browser downloads or prefetches the websites in background, you are most likely to open, and quickly presents you the downloaded webpages when you actually click or request to open those links.
Chrome browser downloads the webpages in advance, based on your browsing history and preferences.
Similar is the Startup Boost feature in Edge browser.
Should You Turn ON Preload Pages in Chrome?
Should you enable or disable Preload Pages settings in Chrome?
Normally, I prefer to keep the ‘Page Prefetch’ turned ON in Chrome browser for faster browsing experience.
However, please keep in mind that though limited, this feature uses memory resources (RAM, SSD or HDD) as well as internet data for preloading of webpages in background.
Therefore, if you have limited data package, then you can turn it OFF. You can access the tweak here: Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data > Preload pages for faster browsing and searching.
If you experience glitches while using some heavy resource consuming applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro or FilmoraPro video editing software, you can temporarily turn OFF the ‘Page Prefetch’ in Chrome browser, to save system resources.
However, if you have a good internet data package and your computer has spacious RAM and SSD then I will suggest you always keep the Page Prefetch turned ON for faster browsing experience in Chrome browser.
