Solved: Samsung Galaxy contacts names not showing on WhatsApp
Today, suddenly the contacts names became missing on WhatsApp app in Samsung Galaxy mobile phone.
Symptoms of the Problem
Names of saved contacts were not showing on WhatsApp – only phone numbers were showing.
The contacts names were showing in Contacts app and call history but not in in WhatsApp.
I was unable to share something with friends and family.
The contact names disappeared only in one WhatsApp app which was cloned.
Solution: Show WhatsApp contacts names in Samsung phone
It took me 3 hours to sort out the problem when I remembered that yesterday I was playing with settings of Dual Messenger app. So, the real cause of this issue was my own custom settings in Dual Messenger.
To solve this problem, open Settings in Samsung Galaxy phone. Then follow the navigation path of following settings location.
Settings → Advanced features → Dual Messenger. Here turn OFF the toggle button next to the ‘Use Separate Contacts List’ option.
Congratulations. The problem is solved. The contacts names will start showing in your WhatsApp within few minutes.
More Solutions
Try following methods if above solution does not work for you.
Open Contacts app (Samsung) → click three Menu lines (top left) → Manage contacts → Sync contacts.
If you use Google Contacts app, then:
Open Contacts app (Google) → click profile picture → Contacts settings → Google Contacts Sync Settings → Choose Google account → Here turn ON the ‘Automatically back up & sync device contacts’ option.
You can also try this solution and allow permission to access contacts.
Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Permissions → Contacts. Here select the ‘Allow’ option.
I hope the problem is solved and the names of your saved contacts are now showing in WhatsApp.
