This keyboard uses the standard Kedmanee layout (TIS-820.2538), which is the official keyboard for typing in the Thai language (ภาษาไทย). This is a complete แป้นพิมพ์ภาษาไทย (Thai keyboard) solution for all your needs.

It features voice typing (Speech-to-Text) and emoji symbols. If you're looking to type Central Thai (Phasa Thai) words using an English keyboard or write English words in Thai, this is the ideal solution for you. This bilingual Thai Unicode keyboard (Siamese keyboard) also provides translation for typed text between Thai and English.

How to Use the Keyboard (วิธีใช้คีย์บอร์ด)

Typing and Switching Languages (การพิมพ์และการสลับภาษา)

The keyboard defaults to the Thai layout. This layout places consonants on the main keys, with vowels and tone marks primarily on the Shift layer.

• Typing Consonants and Vowels (การพิมพ์พยัญชนะและสระ): Vowels and tone marks are typed after the consonant they modify. The characters will automatically position themselves correctly (above, below, before, or after the consonant). For example, to type ดี, you press d (for ก) first, and then Shift + u (for ี).

• Word Formation: The process is sequential. For example, to type the word "สวัสดี" (Hello):

  1. Press l for ส

  2. Press ; for ว

  3. Press s for ห

  4. Press d for ก

  5. Press Shift+u for ี

To switch between Thai and English, click the English/ไทย button. The keyboard layout and placeholder text will update automatically.

Using Shift and Caps Lock (การใช้ Shift และ Caps Lock)

• Shift: Clicking the Shift key gives you access to a secondary layer of characters. In English mode, this produces uppercase letters. In Thai mode, this reveals most vowels, tone marks, and additional consonants. The Shift key deactivates after one use.

• Caps Lock: In English mode, click Caps Lock to type continuously in uppercase. The key will light up when active. Click it again to deactivate.

Voice Typing (การพิมพ์ด้วยเสียง)

1. Click the Microphone (🎤) button to start voice typing.

2. Your browser may ask for permission to use your microphone. Please click "Allow".

3. The status message will show "Listening..." Start speaking clearly in your selected language.

4. Your spoken words will be converted into text.

• Language Recognition (การรู้จำภาษา): The speech-to-text engine is configured for specific dialects to improve accuracy.

  • Thai Mode: Uses language code th-TH for Thai (Thailand).

  • English Mode: Uses language code en-US for US English.

Auto Punctuation (เพิ่มจุดและช่องว่างโดยอัตโนมัติหลังจากที่คุณพูดจบในไมโครโฟน)

• The Auto Punct. button helps you end sentences quickly. When activated, it will automatically add a period . and a space after you finish speaking with the voice typing feature in both languages.

Translate Feature (การแปลภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ)

The virtual keyboard features a handy Translate button that allows you to swiftly translate your typed text.

How it Works:

• Bilingual Text Translation: When the Thai keyboard is active, clicking the “Translate” button will convert text from Thai to English. Conversely, when the English keyboard is active, clicking “Translate” will convert text from English to Thai, using Google Translate.

• Steps:

1. Type or voice-type any text into the main text area.

2. Click or tap the Translate button.

3. If the text area is empty, a temporary message "Type text first!" will appear, and no new tab will open.

4. If there is text in the text area, a new browser tab will automatically open, redirecting you to Google Translate.

5. Your typed text will be pre-filled into Google Translate's input field.

6. Google Translate will automatically detect the source language of your text.

7. The translation will be displayed in the automatically selected target language (English if Thai keyboard was active, Thai if English keyboard was active).

Important Note for Mobile Users:

On mobile devices with the Google Translate app, clicking "Translate" might open the installed app instead of the web page, and it may not pre-fill your text. To work around this, click "Copy" first to save your text, then "Translate," and paste it in the app. If you haven't installed the Google Translate app on your mobile phone, the Translate feature of our keyboard will work perfectly on mobile as intended.

Physical Keyboard Synchronization (พิมพ์ภาษาไทยโดยใช้ปุ่มบนแป้นพิมพ์คอมพิวเตอร์จริง)

This virtual keyboard will synchronize with your physical keyboard using a computer. If you use the Shift or Caps Lock keys on your physical keyboard, the characters on the virtual keyboard will change accordingly. When you press an English letter on your physical keyboard, it will be converted into an Thai character when using the Thai virtual keyboard.
