Note: above is a short video. You can also watch detailed tutorial for step by step process.

Click on the domain where you want to add MX records of Google Workspace custom email. On the ‘Domain Settings’ page in GoDaddy, click on ‘Manage DNS’ link. Next, on the ‘DNS Management’ page, click ‘Add’ button next to DNS records. As you click ‘Add’ the four DNS fields will be created below the button.

Open this support page of Google Workspace.

Copy the first MX record value (ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM) of Google Workspace, from that Google page.

Setup Google Workspace Gmail mx records into GoDaddy DNS settings

Enter the MX value under the ‘Value’ field in GoDaddy DNS settings.

Under the ‘Type’ field, select MX. Under the Name field, please enter ‘@’ or keep this field blank.

As you enter the ‘@’ sign, another field of ‘Priority’ will appear. In priority, please select ‘1’ for this first MX record. Under TTL field, please select ‘1 Hour’. Later on, when MX records are successfully propagated, Google recommends updating the TTL to 24 hours or 1 Day.

Now click on ‘Add record’ button.

The first MX record will be added to the DNS settings of GoDaddy domain.

Adopting similar method, you will enter all five MX records of Google Workspace in the DNS settings of GoDaddy domain.

You will enter same ‘@’ sign under the ‘Name’ fields. You will also select MX under Type field for all five MX records of Google Workspace. You will also select ‘1 Hour’ for all five MX record values.

However, you will copy the unique value for each record from Google support page and paste it under ‘Value’ field in GoDaddy. You will select ‘5’ under priority field for the second and third MX record. You will select ‘10’ under priority field of GoDaddy for the fourth and fifth MX record of Google Workspace.

After successfully entering five MX records in GoDaddy (as shown in our demo video), you will open Admin Console of Google Workspace. Click ‘Apps’ and then select ‘Google Workspace’ and under that click Gmail. On this Gmail settings page, please click ‘Setup’ which will display for you the five MX records, you had just entered in the DNS settings of GoDaddy.

It means that the MX records are successfully propagated, and your custom email should work now.

To test it, click on the top right corner of browser, click Google Apps having the sign of ‘nine dots’. From there, click Gmail, enter your custom email and your password. You will see here at least one email message from Google Workspace. You can also test it by sending or receiving some other email messages.

You are all DONE – your custom email of Google Workspace is correctly linked with domain.
