User Guide to the Simplified Chinese (Mandarin) Pinyin/English Virtual Keyboard with Voice Typing and Phonetic Input (简体中文/英文虚拟键盘使用指南)
Welcome to the free Simplified Chinese Pinyin Online Keyboard by Dozro! This guide will walk you through all the features of our dual-language virtual keyboard (虚拟键盘), designed to make both Simplified Chinese typing (简体中文打字) and English composition simple and intuitive. This keyboard uses the standard Pinyin input method (拼音输入法), the most popular phonetic system for typing Simplified Chinese characters in Mainland China. This is a complete Simplified Chinese keyboard (简体中文键盘) solution for all your needs.
It features voice typing (Speech-to-Text) and emoji symbols. If you're looking to type Simplified Chinese words using an English keyboard or write English words in Simplified Chinese, this is the ideal solution for you. This bilingual Simplified Chinese keyboard also provides translation for typed text between Simplified Chinese and English.
Core Features (核心功能)
Intelligent Pinyin Input (智能拼音输入): A modern Input Method Editor (IME) that shows you character and phrase suggestions in real-time as you type Pinyin syllables.
Dual Language Mode (双语模式): Seamlessly switch between the Pinyin keyboard and a standard English QWERTY keyboard with a single click.
Fuzzy Pinyin (模糊音): An optional mode that helps you type correctly even if you confuse similar-sounding consonants and vowels (e.g.,
s
vs.sh
).Voice-to-Text (语音输入): Use your microphone for hands-free dictation in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
Rich Symbol Sets (丰富的符号集): Access a wide range of punctuation and custom cultural symbols using the Shift and AltGr keys.
Full Suite of Tools (全套工具): Includes an emoji panel, text management tools (Undo, Redo, Copy), and a one-click translate button.
Physical Keyboard Support (实体键盘支援): Use your computer's keyboard to type Pinyin and select candidates with number keys or the spacebar for a fast, mouse-free experience.
How to Use the Keyboard (如何使用键盘)
Typing and Switching Languages (打字与语言切换)
The keyboard interface is straightforward. Your final text appears in the main text area. In Chinese mode, the two bars below it are for Pinyin input and character selection.
Language Switching (语言切换): To switch between Chinese and English, click the English/拼音 button. The keyboard layout will update instantly.
Typing with Pinyin (使用拼音输入)
Pinyin Input: In Pinyin mode, simply type the letters for a Chinese character's sound (e.g., hao
). The keyboard will automatically display a list of matching Chinese characters in the suggestion bar.
Phrase Matching: The keyboard is smart! If you type the full Pinyin for a common phrase without spaces (e.g.,
nihao
), the complete phrase (你好) will appear as the first suggestion, allowing you to type much faster.Selecting Characters & Phrases:
Click on a character or phrase in the suggestion bar to insert it.
Alternatively, press the Spacebar or the number key corresponding to the suggestion (
1
,2
,3
, etc.) to select it.
After a character is selected, the composition bar and candidate window will clear, ready for the next syllable.
Backspace: Deletes the last character in the text area. If you are typing Pinyin, it will delete the last letter from your Pinyin input first.

Understanding the Keyboard Layout (理解键盘布局)
Chinese Diacritics, Vowels, and Consonants (中文变音符号/元音/辅音)
The Pinyin method is a phonetic system that uses the standard Latin alphabet (a-z) to represent the sounds of Mandarin Chinese. A key feature of this virtual keyboard is that you do not need to type any special diacritics or tone marks (e.g., ā, á, ǎ, à
).
Simply type the base letters (e.g., hao
instead of hǎo
), and the intelligent system will provide the correct character suggestions based on frequency and context, making typing much faster. The keyboard layout itself is the familiar QWERTY layout.
Shift Mapping/Usage Examples (Shift 键使用范例)
The Shift key is primarily used to access alternate symbols on the number and punctuation keys. This works similarly in both English and Chinese modes.

Special Characters: The AltGr Key (特殊字符:AltGr 键)
The AltGr key unlocks a third layer of symbols on both the Chinese and English keyboards. This layer is identical in both modes for consistency and inserts characters directly into the main text area.

Fuzzy Pinyin (模糊音)
The Fuzzy button is a powerful feature for users who may not distinguish between similar-sounding initials or finals. When toggled on (it will turn green), the keyboard will treat these pairs as the same, providing suggestions for both. For example:

Translate Feature (简体中文(拼音)和英文键盘)
The virtual keyboard features a handy Translate button that allows you to swiftly translate your typed text.
How it Works:
Bilingual Text Translation: When the Simplified Chinese keyboard is active, clicking the “Translate” button will convert text from Simplified Chinese to English. Conversely, when the English keyboard is active, clicking “Translate” will convert text from English to Simplified Chinese, using Google Translate.
Steps:
Type or voice-type any text into the main text area.
Click or tap the Translate button.
If the text area is empty, a temporary message "Type text first!" will appear, and no new tab will open.
If there is text in the text area, a new browser tab will automatically open, redirecting you to Google Translate.
Your typed text will be pre-filled into Google Translate's input field.
Google Translate will automatically detect the source language of your text.
The translation will be displayed in the automatically selected target language (English if Simplified Chinese keyboard was active, Simplified Chinese if English keyboard was active).
Important Note for Mobile Users:
On mobile devices with the Google Translate app, clicking "Translate" might open the installed app instead of the web page, and it may not pre-fill your text. To work around this, click "Copy" first to save your text, then "Translate," and paste it in the app. If you haven't installed the Google Translate app on your mobile phone, the Translate feature of our keyboard will work perfectly on mobile as intended.
Physical Keyboard Synchronization (使用物理计算机键盘上的按键输入简体中文)
This virtual keyboard will synchronize with your physical keyboard using a computer. If you use the Shift or Caps Lock keys on your physical keyboard, the characters on the virtual keyboard will change accordingly. When you press an English letter on your physical keyboard, it will be converted into an Simplified Chinese character when using the Simplified Chinese virtual keyboard.
Responsive Design (键盘可在电脑和手机上使用)
This virtual keyboard is designed to adapt to various screen sizes:
Desktop: You will see the full keyboard layout with all keys and labels. If your computer or laptop's physical keyboard isn't working, you can search for "Simplified Chinese Pinyin Keyboard Online by Dozro" or “简体中文拼音在线键盘” using a search engine and use it to type with your mouse or touch.
Tablet: The layout will adjust slightly, and some English labels on Simplified Chinese keys might be hidden to save space.
Mobile: The layout becomes more compact, and some less-used keys (like Tab, Ctrl, Alt) are hidden to optimize for touch input. The action row and cursor row are also rearranged for better usability on smaller screens.
We hope this guide helps you make the most of your Simplified Chinese/English Virtual Keyboard!
