The Movavi Video Suite includes the following extra features:

• Media Files Convertor – which is primarly used to convert the format of various media including audio, image, and video. For example, you can use it to convert the video in .MOV format into the popular .MP4 format. It also performs other functions which are already available in Movavi video editor, for example you can compress (reduce file size), cut, crop, ad subtitles and effects.

• Screen recorder – if you need screen recording for the purpose of creating tutorial videos then it is right for you.

Best for Laptop

Movavi is a light-weight video editing software as compared to other competitors – It requires less than 1 GB (800 MB) of hard disk space for installation whereas Filmora and PowerDirector need 6 GB and 10 GB memory respectively. It requires much less processing and memory resources as compared to other video editors. Therefore, Movavi can be a good option if your laptop or desktop has relatively low system specs.

Easy to Use

Movavi is comparatively easier to use than other competing video editing software, owing to its editable intuitive templates. Simple and easy to understand interface with drag and drop features which you can learn quickly.

Voice Recorder

Movavi audio recording tool is quite handy. Before starting the voiceover, you can tweak the settings to match audio with video clip as well as setting the volume and speed of voice. On the other hand, Filmora interface does not offer to adjust the audio settings before the recording starts – although you can adjust the volume, speed, and pitch values in Filmora after the recording finishes. Movavi offers easy method to record Voice-Over for a video.

Number of Tracks

Like Filmora, you can add unlimited number of video tracks in Movavi whereas in Corel VideoStudio you can add up to 20 overlay tracks and in PowerDirector, you can add up to 100 video tracks. To be honest, usually you do not require too many tracks. For a normal commercial or a YouTube video, I use only 3 to 5 tracks – it is rare when I need 10 or more tracks, for example, I used 12 tracks while creating this subscribe animation.

Mobile App Usage

Some users may find it surprising and annoying, but it is fact that a separate standalone subscription is required to use Movavi app (Movavi Clips) on mobile phone. Similarly, PowerDirector also require separate payment for premium features of their mobile app. Corel VideoStudio and Adobe Premiere Pro are not available for mobile.

Speed Ramping

Movavi video editor provides only basic level of keyframing. PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Filmora provide more precise control for editing each keyframe, thus providing more control over animation. Due to lack of advanced keyframing, Movavi has no speed ramp feature – you cannot apply different speed levels to a single clip at desired timestamps with smooth motion. On their website, Movavi provides a way for speed ramping by cutting a clip into smaller pieces then applying different speeds to them – but remember that this trick cannot produce a smooth change in speed.

Masking and Motion Tracking

Although Movavi video editor can automatically track the motion of a moving object. The Movavi motion tracking tool offers three options of Quick, Precise, or Artificial intelligence tracking. You can also put a text or sticker on a moving object. In Animation section under More Tools, select Advanced tab to manually Add keyframes for precise motion tracking control. The Easy tab under the Animation, gives you ready made collection of motion tracking presets.

In Movavi, you cannot draw custom mask points around an object to make its sides transparent or blur. However, you can resize the mask to fit it on an object. If the object is moving, you can automatically track it. To apply mask, click More Tools → select Highlight and Conceal option.

Text Editing Options

You get necessary text editing options in Movavi video editor. To add a text over your video, you must add a title from the Titles tab and edit it. You can double click over a title to add your own custom text and change its font, size, or color.

There is no stand-alone option to add a text. 3D text styles are not available in Movavi. On the other hand, in Filmora, a standalone Quick Text and 3D text options are available to be applied to any simple text.

Audio Editing Features

Movavi video editor provides the basic audio editing features such as volume adjustment, fade in/out, change in audio speed. It also provides the features of AI noise removal, the one-click magic audio enhance button for quickly refining the audio sound quality. You can apply the voice enhancement preset found inside Equalizer tool of Movavi. For voice editing features in Movavi, click More Tools → select Audio Editing option.

However, Movavi lacks the advanced audio features of vocal remover, audio stretch, audio ducking, silence detector – which are available in Filmora and PowerDirector.

Color Correction

Movavi video editing software provides the color adjustment tool for color correction. There are also quick color grading presets in Movavi – click the More tools tab and in the Color adjustments menu, you will get some color editing options, including Auto contrast, Auto saturation, Auto white balance, or Magic enhance – which are easy-to-use for beginners.

AI Features

Movavi has AI features including AI motion tracking, AI background removal, AI noise removal from audio. Movavi lacks many useful AI features, such as automatic image generation, voiceover from text, creating captions from speech, vocal remover – which are available in competitor software.

No Adjustment Layer

It lacks the adjustment layer – whereas most other software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, PowerDirector, and Filmora have this handy function (for applying same effects to multiple clips).

Feature Limitations

Movavi video editor lacks some other advanced functions available in other competitor software. For example, it lacks the live streaming to social media, 360 degree video editing, and 8K video import and editing.

Please note that following are my own recommendations, based on my years of experience in video editing. Movavi video editor can run on much lower specs than what I recommended here. More powerful system (computer) is better for fast rendering and export of your video project, especially if you use more than three video tracks in timeline or you apply too many effects (motion, color) on a single track.

Here are the best computer specs for your best experience while using Movavi video editing software.

• 👉️ CPU Processor – I recommend at least Core i7. Whereas the minimum requirement of Movavi is a 1.5 GHz processor which is Intel Core i3 processor. Compare prices of Intel Core i5, i7, and i9 processor on Amazon.

• 👉️ Graphics Processor (GPU) – You should prefer any NVIDIA RTX series with vRAM of at least 6 GB. I personally use dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB memory. Whereas only 512 MB vRAM is the minimum recommendation of Movavi.

• 👉️ RAM Memory – at least 16 GB. The RAM of my own PC is 32 GB. Whereas Movavi requires minimum 2 GB RAM but also recommends at least 8 GB RAM.

• 👉️ SSD Storage Memory – I recommend at least 512 GB SSD for editing videos of HD and and 4K resolution but an SSD with 1 TB capacity will be the best option. Check computer SSD drive prices on Amazon.

• 👉️ HDD Storage Memory – Your computer should also have a Hard Drive (HDD) of good storage capacity with faster speed. I use 2 TB for overall needs of storing data. Please note that Movavi video editing software requires only 800 MB hard drive memory for installation, but Movavi also requires minimum 2 GB space for ongoing operations. • 👉️ System Type – x64 based PC is recommended. All modern computers (laptops) have 64-bit operating system. System type 32 bit can only use up to 4 GB of RAM, so not good for video editing tasks. To check it for your computer, open Settings → System → About.

• 👉️ Monitor – Use at least an HD display monitor with your computer but 4K display monitor is a better choice – Check 4k computer monitors on Amazon. 4K monitor will help for better editing of colors. A monitor with minimum 1920 x 1080 px resolution is a good option for screen recording and creating tutorial videos, so that you can export the final video in the same frame size as in recorded video – without the need for forcibly upscaling (results in blurry display) your original video. The minimum requirement of Movavi is 1280 × 720 pixel monitor, but Movavi recommends 1920 × 1080 or higher monitor resolution.
