A Simple Guide to Using the Arabic (MSA)/English Virtual Keyboard (Standard Arabic (101) Layout)

Welcome! This guide will walk you through all the features of our dual-language virtual keyboard, designed to make Arabic typing and English composition simple and intuitive. This keyboard uses the standard Arabic (101) layout, familiar to millions of users. Whether you're on a desktop or a mobile device, you'll find all the tools you need for typing in English and Arabic right at your fingertips. This keyboard features voice typing in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

The Basics: What You See

When you load the keyboard, you'll see two main areas:

  1. The Text Area: This is the large box at the top where your typed text appears.

  2. The Virtual Keyboard: This is the interactive keyboard below the text area, with keys for letters, numbers, and special functions.

Core Features

Typing in Arabic and English

The keyboard defaults to the Arabic keyboard layout. Simply click or tap on the keys to type characters into the text area. The keys follow the standard Arabic (101) layout for easy and familiar typing.

Switching Languages

To switch between Arabic and English, simply click the Eng/عربي button.

  • When the keyboard is in Arabic mode, the button will show English.

  • When the keyboard is in English mode, the button will show عربي.

The text area's direction (RTL for Arabic, LTR for English) and the placeholder text will update automatically when you switch.

Using Shift and Caps Lock

  • Shift: Click the Shift key to access uppercase English letters or the secondary characters on the Arabic keys. This is especially useful for typing Arabic diacritics (Tashkeel), such as Fatha ( َ ), Damma ( ُ ), and Shadda ( ّ ), [Zer, Zabar], as well as regional currency symbols. The Shift key deactivates after one use.

  • Caps Lock: Click the Caps Lock key to type continuously in uppercase English. The key will light up to show it's active. Click it again to turn it off.

Powerful Action Buttons

The top rows of the keyboard contain powerful action buttons to enhance your typing experience.
